Thomas Bourgault is approaching 20 years in public education in the greater northeastern states’ region. He holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in Music from the University of New Hampshire where he studied horn with John Boden and Kendall Betts, composition with Michael Annicchiarico and Andrew Boysen, Jr., and conducting with Boysen and William Kempster. He earned a Doctorate in Wind Studies from Rutgers University, where he studied conducting with Kraig Alan Williams and assisted with all facets of the university’s band program.

Bourgault Music Works

Bourgault has been composing and arranging music since he was a high school student. He has received numerous commissions from school music programs at the national level, and has enjoyed the opportunity to clinic and conduct his premieres and hold residencies with bands commissioning his works. He is an advocate for student compositions, has premiered several student works in his tenure as a conductor, and is a perennial adjudicator for New Jersey’s Young Composer’s Contest.

When he’s away from teaching, Bourgault remains an avid runner and cyclist, but only when he is not experimenting with rye bread recipes, or entertaining his daughter, of course, with music.
